Reflection

I learned a lot from this project. I have a hard time meeting new people and talking to them. This project helped bring me out of my shell and make more connections with students, clubs, and faculty across the campus. Being a Team Captain was an effective way to improve my communication skills. It also helped me work on my leadership and teamwork skills. These skills are valuable and will help me as I continue my college education and begin my career in a few years. I feel that being a Team Captain helped me reach these goals of becoming a better leader and better at communicating. Sometimes I have a difficult time being assertive, saying things such as, “Well I’m pretty sure this is the answer but let me ask my boss first.”. During Thunder U, things get a little hectic and it isn’t always fast when you text your ACE a question, so this gave me practice making decisions by myself.

Before this project, I was very full of self doubt and personal negative thoughts, but meeting so many wonderful people helped me to be more confident. It helped me see that I should be more confident in myself like so many other people are. I believe these things I've learned and developed will help me not only in completing future projects, but in all aspects of my life. Next time I’m a Team Captain, I will be more confident in myself and get even more involved in the activities. There were a few activities where we could leave if we wanted to, and I usually did. Next time, I will be more confident and happy and go find students who may be alone and befriend them. I have better communication skills thanks to this project which I believe will help me with this goal of becoming even more involved next year.
